Attended 1970 -76. I have many happy memories of Our Lady's, I think my year was the first in the. 'New' building. Upsetting to hear that NLC have plans to merge with Taylor High and re-locate to Ravenscraig! Hope this does not happen, our school has a special place in Motherwell, a special place in our family, as my mum went here before it was an all boys school in the 1930s. Let's keep our school!

I attended OLHS from 1970-75, so I bridged the all boys high school and the mixed comprehensive school following the merger with St Joseph's. I actually loved my time at OLHS, especially the first 3 years. I met my wife Linda Hayes in 3rd year after the merger.
I played in the football and basketball teams and was honored to have captained both teams under the fantastic leadership of Jim Friel.
Teachers I remember include Freil! Naughton, Napier, Lynchburg, Buchanan, Flaherty, Boyle, Casey Lunny, McGovern, Mad Macintyre, carlin, Gribben, Keown, Nielsen, Carr, McCann, Quinn, White, and of course Father Burns, the coolest priest on the planet.
I joined OLHS from St Brendan's along with the McConnell twins, Peter O'Brien, Martin Carey, John McDonald, Colin Fox, Stevie Armstrong and others.
I was in class 1c, 2c as the population was split alphabetically. I remember Kilty mcNulty, Jim McIntyre, Ziggy McGuigan, Jim mcKendrick, Tom Muldownie, chas ONeill, Steve Maxwell, Tom McKean, Frank McShane, WilliePaterson, James Quinn, Martin Quinn, Wilf Slike, Chris Tulips, Gerry Welsh, Andy Morrisey, Mark Mathieson, Chris Rooney, Chris Kip Travers. Sorry to those I missed.
Finally, my dad Big Joe Parks also attended OLHS around 1939.

Kathleen has just responded to an e-mail I sent today and I am so pleased to hear that Charles Raymond Lunny is still on the go.Best Latin teacher ever!!! My very best to all students both past and present. I am going back to the 'old' all boy days so the present day pupils will, perhaps, have no knowledge of the time I was there. Keep up the good work so long established,
My very best to you all

Great place, don't think many of the auld guys get on here I've never heard from any of them. Do you ever catch up with any of them from the football teams.

Loved years 1-4. Hated 5th year; all I wanted to do was leave and work. Great school though. Proud to have been a pupil.

I dont know what made me put OLHS into google but here we are three hours later having just skimmed the surface. I left St Patricks Shieldmuir, in 1959 I think it was, and spent the next four years at "Our Lady's"
I tell my wife how I had the chance of probably one of the best educations in the country but managed to squander it by being a proverbial smart "anus". I wish I could have my time there over again. I left in 1963
at the age of sixteen with not too many qualifications - mea culpa ! That was fifty years ago but I will always remember the lads I spent this time with - Particularly Chick Esson from Craigneuk with whom I went to primary school at Shieldmuir, and we have remained friends to this day. The last week at school was spent in the theatre listening to the Beatles " love me do " on a plastic single play Dansette record player. Lads in my class from memory - Chick Esson - Joe Salmon Wee Joe Cotter - Big mat Julius and John McKenna from Bellshill (fitba daft - McKenna was the goalie) - John McIntyre - John McKillop - Gerry Andrews. Too numerous to remember. The teachers - Porkie O'Rourke -Maths - Jimmy Kelly Maths and administrator of floggings in the quad in the morning. Wee Dunn - Mr D'Inverno french - softest belt in the school, when you were sent to borrow a belt, thats whose you went for.Wee wullie Reid - French and (pschopathic tendencies) "Twalla" - Geography and latter day nutcase - very entertaining indeed. Mr Curran - "big Neep" - latin -- Amo,amas, amat - c'mon you lads, A budgie could learn it.I can still hear his voice today - Black Jake Carlin - strict but fair
probably one of the best teachers in the school. And who remembers Mr.Wire - the art teacher? Everybody called him "Hookie"!! How cruel we were The man had no left arm and no right hand as I remember it but He could use a belt!! It was an education watching him fix the tawse onto his hook and we all knew what was coming. I could go on for ever but alot of water has gone under the bridge and I would just like to end by saying to those of us who are still here - kindest regards and onwards and upwards.and maybe a toast to absent friends
