I attended OLHS fromm1958 to 1963. Because I Loved Duane Eddy at that time, I had a nickname of Duane at that time. Rector at that time was Mr Boyle. Remember Carrie Owens,Wullie Reid, Massa,Betty Gibson etc.I worked in Civil Service for 33 years then took early retirement due to 2 heart attacks and a quintuplet by-
pass operation.Have done lot of voluntary since then, played bass guitar with Scottish blues singer and
am also an artist with exhibitions in Stirling,Turnburry, Glasgow etc . Got a South Lanarkshire outstanding community service award for my voluntary work. Also been put forward for a Queens award. I have been a JP, member of Lanarkshire Health Board, chair of south Lanarkshire Health Board, etc etc. Would love to communicate with anyone who used to know me.

I was a pupil at our ladys high 1976 - 1980 not long after leaving moved away down south with my family. I have been away 31 years now, one of my regerets is never bumping into any of my old school friends or attending a school reunion, that would have been fab. If anyone does remember me, i would love to hear from you. I have happy memories of my time at our ladys. In fact, i have just returned from a few days in motherwell with my sister Jacqui who also attanded our ladys. We took our children to see where we grew up / attended school etc............ brought back great memories. x

If you attended OLHS & your first year was 1982 there is a 30 Year Re-Union on the 26th May if you would like further details please email me @stephen.quirke@live.co.uk. Teachers from that era very welcome. All the Best "

Which Patrick Doherty,Motherwells Pat Doherty or another.I went to OLHS from 1955 to 1958,considering it was supposed to be Lanarkshires top Senior Secondary, the standard of teaching went from brilliant to absolute rubbish. Some of the teachers from that era were nothing short of thugs.
That said I met a lot of great lads during my time at the school and considered myself lucky to have been in the same class as Bobby Murdoch, what a footballer. He died far too young.
If anyone from thoes bygone days remembers me dont hesitate to get in touch.

Just discovered the site! Great memories. Sam McBride , I admire your memory for names. The High Heel Brigade are still etched in my memory (mental scarring). Shug Moore , That was a great football team in 1982. Can you remember the names of our team-mates.I remember a good few but I don`t want to say, in case I offend those I can`t remember. Some great teachers who I thank. Regards, Sean Daly

In spite of the fact that I didn't make the best use of my time at OLHS it has been my rock I was there from 1949-54 . Then migrated to Australia Many special memories of Paddy Welsh and Killer Dempsey If you crossed them you knew all about it Still in touch with my very good friend Tommy Mc Manus I have a piece of stone from the old Airbles Rd site when it was knocked down as a memento of my time there. I was at the school around the mid 60's, played in the seniors 2nd eleven and the Gerry Mitchell was the manager. Tony Macis was the keeper for the senior 1st team and an excellent player, although correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure he had terrible eyesight.

I remember Mr Duddy the English teacher who took my English class of no hopers and taught us with most of the class achieving a pass in the Higher English exam.

Is that theeee Boaby McGuinness who played in the 1971 Scottish/Maley trophy team? If so hello again after all these years. I attended the old school from '67 to '73. Attended lessons between football studies/games. Ahh the memories Martin McCormack (french), Hiram, Fuzzy etc. Met Jimmy Friel a couple of weeks ago he looks younger than me. Best wishes to you Bob.

I have looked at the site fairly regularly since I first came across it and two things stand out:-
a) there are no messages from teachers saying what a joy, and privilege, it was to teach us, and
b) although there have been posters from the 50's/60's - Hello, Gerry, I too remember that Saturday at Goldenacre; I was last in the Mile - no-one has mentioned Audrey, who dominated our daily thoughts in a way which few teachers did.
Strange that.
