I played on the 1960 shield winning team with John Cushley [he passed away a few years back from motor-neuron disease]
Remember the post script to the 1957 controversy about us and Holyrood being banned from playing the replay.Reporters from the newpapers came to OLHS for a story and a group attempted to overturn one of their cars.Quite the deal.!
Sad to hear about the physical and mental demise of Billy Mc Neil

Vancouver ,Canada- Went to OLHS from 1955-1961 then to jordanhill College to become PE teacher.taught 3 years at Holy Cross Hamilton the emigrated to Vancouver.
Played on football team with Boby Murdoch ,Benny Rooney and John Cushley in 1957 school team then won Scottish shield in 1960 with John Cushley.Played for Scottish Schools vs England in 1961 with Jim Craig and Andy Roxburgh Bellahouston Academy.]
played for Third Lanark in their final season in 1967.
Best teachers were Willie Reid [French] and Tiff Clifford [latin] and Mr White [history] .Fond memories esp of Football and Athletics teams.
visited the new school on visit home in the ,8o.s

East Kilbride- Just doing my nosey. Left OLHS in 1982 and would like a catch up with some of the class. Still go to the Railway Tavern and see Kevin Kelly, Neil Marley and Bernard Craney as well as John McGowan. When Celtic win Derek Green turns up lol. It'd be good to hear from some of you.

Glasgow- I am trying to find Leonard Mitchell of Broxburn Crescent Bellshill. He was in fifth year in 1970. We appeared together on Tv programme, Come Dancing and we went to Viron School of Dance in Hamilton.

Girvan- I attended Our Lady's 1952/58 . My Uncle Jack , Sir John A McKay , was one of the School's most notable former pupils . At one stage in his career he was Chief Constable of Manchester . Another of the School's most notable FPs , Sir Matt Busby , was manager of Manchester United at the same time & Jack & Matt used to see each other socially . I do not know whether they attended OLHS at the same time .

Norway- Hi Eric Houston! How great to hear from you via this site! I remember you very well and many of the people you mentioned. As you have probably gathered, I moved to Norway after graduating from Glasgow Uni and I still live here. Someone mentioned in an earlier comment that we should try to get a reunion organised for former pupils of OLHS. GREAT SUGGESTION!!! How about it folks?! I know we are scattered literally all over the world now; but I for one would be more than happy to travel over to Scotland for a reunion

I also attended OLHS from 1973-79 and I remember you very well. We were in the same registration class and I recall there were 7 Dochertys , 8 Donnellys (including a lad named Felix !) and also 4 Duffys ! Used to be around 50 lads in the class back then !! I recall you had the nickname
of 'Cook' - no idea why ? You also had a spiky hairstyle years before they became fashionable so you were definitely ahead of the trend in those days !! Are you in touch with anyone from those days whom I would remember ? Nice to come across you on this site. Hope you get in touch if/when you ever come across this message !! In the meantime, take care and best regards to you !!

Gourock- John it's good to see your post my friend ,can't believe the names on here ,I often think of what happened to everyone from smyllum park home.? I remember all the names, wee gerry Simpson was a great wee guy ,so funny I remember ,and Michael and Frank Duffy ( bomber) lol great kids but not so great position for any if us to be in ,but we were there so no choice lol would be nice to get in touch ,ps I remember the boyles and Gillespiesee, I did get in touch with sharon Conway, there was Paul Arlene sharon and Christopher, they were in St Marys was it ? And belinda Scott, also remember the mclauchlins and the Turiks

Just found this page n it has brought back fond memories. My 2 older brothers both attended Paul n Martin mcmurray. Wish everyone well for Christmas
