I attended OLH with my sister Geraldine, who was in my year, we both left in 1974. It was difficult joining up with another school for the 5th and 6th years . I remember there was only about six girls in the final year. It would be good to hear from anyone who remembers us. Favourite subject was history.

have been on this page and the one thing that becomes clear is that a lot of people have good memories of being at OLHS .I was there 81-85 i did not get much of an education but that was more to do with my approch to the world. i did injoy it and made some good frends also i think the teachers had to put up with a lot from us students. Got my education after i left school trained as a nurse them when back to unie acouple of years ago and did a BA in Economics& Politics so all the best to eveyone who was at OLHS

Hi Gerry Monaghan ,
I played in front of you for two seasons ;didn't see much of you in that position. I remember you also captained a golf match pupils versus staff. I remember your talents as a poet..." no matter how much you shake your peg......
I remember your father attending one of your matches , he talked to me. The fathers of the players had , in their own lifes , suffered WW1 chaos ,1926 national miners strike ,1929 world recession ,WW2 , rationing till 1949.
Apart from my own father, I never saw another father supporting his son in this way.

Very best regards Gerry Boylan.

Hi Helen, so you married John then. No surprise really you were made for one another. Can't believe 30 odd years have gone by. I don't live in carfin anymore,no surprise there. Nowdays I'm in livingston, approaching 50 and couldn't be happier. Only thing missing is kids, but the other half is exactly that, the two halves make a whole. Have a fantastic Xmas and tell John I said hello. M

Wow! I just stumbled upon this website by accident today while looking for another website. I've just spent the last couple of hours reading all of the comments and I recognise several of the people who have posted comments. In particular, Frank Duffy, who stayed at Smyllum Park children's home. So did I!! My name then was Theresa McGrane and I was in Ogilvie House from 1967-1980. Please get in touch if you want to reminisce! I attended Our Lady's High from 1974-1980 - what an amazing school! John Tully was headmaster, Mr. White was deputy headmaster. I remember John Duffin and Stuart Holden from English dept., Mr. Lynch (the kipper) and Mr. Connelly from Mod.Languages, Ms. Quither and Hilary Vernon from Music Depr and of course Father Burns. Not many of us from Smyllum had the best of starts in life, but thanks to the amazing education I received at Our Lady's High, I went on to attend Glasgow Uni where I studied modern languages and met my husband Morten, who was Norwegian, so I moved to Norway in 1985, where I still live. I became a government-authorised translator and interpreter and did a lot of work in the European Union and European Court of Human Rights. At the grand old age of 37, I decided to change course entirely and went off to study Psychology at Aberdeen Uni. I did my post-grad clinical training at Oslo Uni and now have my own practice here in Fredrikstad Norway. I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me and especially from anyone who stayed at Smyllum. Thanks to Miss Boyle and Mrs. Connelly of the P.E Dept., my love of sports has never wavered and I still run today. Will be in Glasgow in Sept to do the Great Scottish Run, if anyone wants to meet up. Great memories!!! And what a great idea to start this website! Well done Mrs. Macfadyen!!

They were the days. Attended OLHS from 1971 until 1977. I was a prefect. Remember well the purple blazers with light blow border. Used to love driving into the Teachers car park. Was a memeber of the Photography Club but spent more time playing guitar. I remeber fondly teachers such as Mrs. McCabe (Modern Studies from Coatbridge I believe...Her and I had a few run ins but she was great.) Mr. White often gave me into trouble for the noise i made as I walked on my heels (Probably Slade like platforms and heels at the time..helped when you were short). Mr. Connors was a first class English teacher. Good friends were Martin Ruddy, Peter O'Brien, Chris Law, Catherine Lockhart, Marie Cogan, etc. I'm Now working as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor still in Lanarkshire and part time mobile Guitar, Saxophone and Ukulele Teacher. I'm also quite active with my Wedding band Cool Reception. (Check it out on Google) What I most loved about OLHS was it made you appreciate the rewards of hard work. Keep up the great work great school and great people.

Can't remember a Jim Jordan (sadly) but I was also a pupil in the years to 1963 (I might have given you 100 lines for standing out of line in the quadrangle, Jim?). Have left a few memories on 'friends reunited', but can't make my way round the website since it has been 'improved'. Spent the first 6 years of my retirement getting an arts degree from the OU, just for fun, and am now at a loose end. I'm a Scout Leader in Perth and also (Jim) lead a voluntary conservation group. getting to the time of life when I use more energy looking back than looking forward - and yes - I remember all those teachers - and Charlie Tully's career seemed to have taken off as soon as I left - happy days.
