Dunfermline- Had six great years at the old school between '67 and '73. Can anyone translate the old school motto for me please? Think it read 'Meta Soy (or Su) Nikhsomen Maria' Well seen I failed Latin! Also, why is it no longer in use? Best regards to all my old school friends and good luck to all the current pupils and staff.

Gretna Dumfriesshire- I was a pupil at OLHS in the late 30s and was amember of the schools ATC Squadron. I together with two other former pupils Michael Boylan from Craigneuk and Frank Flood from Hamilton volunteered for aircrew in the RAF and joined the service in 1943. Michael and Frank were not as fortunate as myself as Michael was killed over Belgium and Frank was killed in action. Some of my colleagues at the school and also members of the squadron may well remember me, I was in the same year as the Cardinal and I particularly remember Bill Marley and Pat Watters from Wishaw, Sam Lynch( the nephew of the rector, Tom Lynch) from Motherwell, Jack and Tommy Carlin, James Casserley and John Collins and the Slavins from Cleland the place where I was born.
I have a photograh of the ATC Squadron taken at the summer camp at Dromore near Prestonpans in 1942 and this may be of interest to you for the schools archives.
My career in Electronics took me to many RAF Stations around the world and I finished my career as a Senior Executive ( Wing Commander) at RAF Carlisle from where I retired 22 years ago.
